Bio

Ali Grunner, otherwise known as Ali Green, is the current Romanian drone racing champion. Starting out in drones around 2015, he has ten years experience in racing, and considers himself to be one of the "more seasoned" pioneer pilots in the sport.

He has travelled all around Europe to race drones, participating in numerous FAI World Cups as well as the FAI World Drone Racing Championships in Hangzhou, China last year.

In the early days of his drone racing career, Grunner regularly expected to be in the top 10-15 in the rankings, but with the rise in the number of young pilots participating and the incredible skills they have gained from intense training, he says that they, "have raised the bar so very high," but as he stoically points out, "I am here pushing and doing my best to keep up with these young and talented pilots!"

Pleased to be qualified for The World Games, he considers it an honour to be flying alongside the younger generation at big international competitions and will represent Romania "with dignity".

Other activities

Grunner has been working as an automotive embedded Software Developer and Commercial Drone R&D developer at AROBS Romania for the last six years. Besides this activity, drones remain his passion and he also works in commercial drone filming for TV, film, advertising and sport. In his "free time" he is a sound engineer and works on other tech, filming and production projects. He has been married for ten years.
